Legislative action
Maine Public Employees Retirement System divestment campaign.
We’re urging you to call or email to demand that MPERS divest from fossil fuels, in accordance with a bill passed by the Maine legislature in 2022 (LD 99, An Act to Require the State to Divest Itself of Assets in the Fossil Fuel Industry). The divestment law must be enforced! Here is all of the information you need. It just takes 2-3 minutes. Greater Portland Action
Banks: Stop Funding Fossil Fuels! Let’s raise awareness among our fellow citizens on May 23 and May 30 by standing in well-trafficked places with our signs. We’ll have extra signs for you.
Tuesday mornings: 8-8:30 am in South Portland, on the approach to Casco Bay Bridge, intersection of Broadway and Rt. 77. Park at Mill Creek Shopping Plaza near Starbucks and the Bank of America drive-thru.
Tuesday lunchtimes: 12-12:30 pm in Portland at Lobsterman’s Park (corner of Middle and Temple).
Midcoast Maine Action
We are keeping the pressure on Bank of America for its expanded fossil fuel investments by protesting in front of its call center along Route 3 in Belfast each month. These standouts will also serve to inform weekend tourists of BOA's grave complicity in our worsening climate crisis.
